The Stack has reopened after the horrible fire that burnt it down only 10 days after opening in 2015 and it is glorious. We went to Stack on the recommendations of friends, and boy were they right. The beautifully designed interiors - all sourced, conceived and executed by Sarah (there is a private members club upstairs) are a delight visually and very comfortable ( not often the case with eclectically designed rooms). This grand old house of Cape Town has great owners in Nigel and Sarah, and all the staff are a good mix of professional yet open to chatting and knowledgeable about the history of the restaurant and the house. The menu is just right too - not too short, not too long and authentically french. We had chicken Terrine and Duck Rillettes as our starters, both delicious and then followed with the Plat Du jour - Coq au vin, which was one of the best C has had. I had the Steak frites: It is not often I finish both a starter and a main, but such was the quality I did. Can't wait to go back, don't take too long to book your visit.
