Owner's description

This quirky & eclectic bar & restaurant is set in a unique Victorian house, in the center of bohemian Observatory, Cape Town. They offer a wide range of local craft beers and a good selection of wine by the glass. They serve delicious lunch and dinner - influenced by global street-food. Sip on a cappuccino in their sunny breakfast room, or enjoy a local craft beer with a burger on their veranda in the evening.

Share a bottle of wine with friends in their intimate, leafy courtyard. If it's cold out, sit in a comfy armchair and relax by one of their two fireplaces with red wine and a book. They are passionate about environmental sustainability and offer vegetarian and vegan options.

We celebrated our daughters 21st birthday at this wonderful venue on Friday night with family and a few of her close friends. Juan accommodated us by allowing us to bring in some of our own decor, some of our own light music to make it more personal which was much appreciated. Everything went off BETTER than expected and we were especially blown away by the wonderful service received by our AWESOME waiter, GESH. He was cordial, hospitable, observant and very attentive to our needs. The food was really good and our guests enjoyed every minute :) Thank you guys, for an evening we will remember for a long time to come!!
A Touch of Madness is back and better than ever. It's long history, loyal patrons and community platform is a lot to live up to, but the change has been one for the better. A Touch of Madness is invigorated and revived. The overhaul in the bar area was a stroke of genius, opening up a dedicated room to the poets and musicians that have been able to provide regular food for the soul there, in the past. The menu is adventurous, yet sociable, and provides a lot of opportunity for sharing and trying out new things. The re- purposed furniture, commitment to environmental preservation and friendly staff warm your heart, leaving you completely certain, that this is a good place to be.
