  • If I'm looking to pick up something tasty and quick, it's always a good idea to stop at Afro's. The minimal menu means that they do everything well, and haven't panicked and expanded their menu beyond their reach. I really love the options of 'koel' (lemon & herb) and 'hot' (chilli), which add variety to their burger and tjips. If you're ordering the strips and tjips, go 50/50 and have half tjips and half coleslaw, be sure to also add the chilli tomato jam, it's a great dipping sauce for either option. Afro's is also a great spot to grab a bacon and egg roll on busy mornings and a takeaway coffee. If you have more time on your hands, the Umhlanga branch will pack you a picnic basket to take across the road to Chris Saunders Park so you can chill in the sunshine with friends and some delicious food. The staff is always friendly and the service is speedy, so you won't find yourself waiting around forever. A side note: I really love the decor. The bright yellow is cheerful and the interiors are utilitarian minimal - very modern.
