Owner's description

A quaint, unassuming, asian-inspired eatery located on Sea Point’s Main road and owned by former chef of Willoughbys, Andy Wang. Dishes are prepared the traditional Japanese way and served in a cosy and comfrotable atmosphere. Perfect for a quick lunch during a busy day. You are welcome to bring your own liquor (no corkage fee) as Andy’s Sushi Bar hasn’t acquired a licence yet. Only cash is accepted, so leave those cards at home.

Absolutely horrible sushi. We bought R480 worth of sushi. We love sushi, we've had sushi at MANY places. My husband and I had one piece of each thing just to be sure as we thought the first piece was a dud, and it was TERRIBLE. We literally put the rest in the fridge and I doubt we will eat it. The decor is a little dodgy and it seemed they're possibly packing up so we rather took takeaway and the service people didn't seem interested. The rice tasted like they tried giving us all the rice they had left before they close. Never again. Definitely won't recommend it to anyone. It looks "good" but definitely doesn't taste it. Ended up ordering pizza from the hotel we stayed at. Think we will be off sushi for a while.
Either he went to Andy's on a very unusual day or Mark Walker (below) is a mean reviewer. This is a great, simple, unassuming sushi place. It now sells wine as well.
What a terrific Tom Yam soup and delicious fresh sushi!I am going soon again

No winelist, plastic tables, plastic chipped plates, re-used questionable chop sticks, terrible sushi, slow service (take-aways seem to get preference), Andy not in sight, perhaps moonlighting at Willoughby's?
