  • My favorite restaurant has moved down the road. They are now at 33 Oxford. They are better than ever, new menus with the same amazing quality food. Evenings are my favorite time cosy and romantic inside.

  • Perhaps we just went on a off day, but when I saw other reviews I was pleased we had chosen to go to Bakesh because previous patrons had reviewed it well. The setting is lovely. From the street side it's a charming old house, with what looked like limited outside seating. Once you walk through to the back there is an awesome outside area under a massive plane tree. But the service started off badly and never got better. We we not greeted at the door and had to make our way though the rather empty retardant to the back in order to find someone. Once we sat down, no menu was offered. We asked for one and ordered drinks. They came 15 min later. I then asked for a glass with no ice that never arrived. Our waiter said he was new and couldn't help us with the details on the menus so we asked him to find someone who could. It happens ...everyone is new at some time, but then he started walking off the minute we started asking our questions. How on earth is he actually going to learn the menu if he doesn't stay to listen. We ordered and waited almost 45 min for a pasta and pork belly in and almost empty restaurant. After asking if Parmesan and garlic would be served, the meal arrived without the extras and when we asked, they came without spoons on the side. Do people stick their dirty forks into these accompaniments? My partner recived mash instead of the chips he asked for. Small stuff but quite disappointing actually. My pasta was however tasty and I ate every morsel.

  • We were pleasantly suprised at the quality of the food at this Durbanville eatery just opposite the library. The decor is modern, it has a wonderful beergarden and even a space for the kids to play. Out of the 6 guests in our party everyone really enjoyed their food (mains and desserts). The service was good and the prices reasonable. We will definately be eating here again!

  • What a gem. Recently taken over by new vibrant owners. Great service and excellent food and wine. They do functions, events and birthday parties in a separate private venue on the premises. Sitting outside under the big tree is a must to relax after work.

  • We popped in one Thursday evening a couple of weeks back as we had seen that the restaurant had a new name. What a wonderful evening.
The service was thoroughly pleasant, with both the waitress and the owner making sure our experience was a good one. The food is really good value for money. We enjoyed every meal that we had and the desserts were amazing.

We will go back regularly. I would suggest having regular specials as the menu is not excessively extensive, so a special would give patrons a couple of additional options.
