This is a family-owned restaurant, shop and guesthouse overlooking a beautiful memorial garden in the centre of this small Overberg town. A popular spot with locals and visitors, it has a tranquil veranda for a relaxing Friday afternoon beer and burger or scrumptious brunch. Try the French toast croissant with bacon, honey and fried banana; and spinach crumpets with smoked salmon. (EO mag 2014)
With its salmon-filled buttery croissants and generous ‘Overberg Breakfast’, it’s no surprise that this place is packed with locals and tourists on Saturday mornings. It’s a great breakfast spot, but there are also heavier options for lunch. Think generous open sandwiches with smoked chicken and grilled pineapple, or a hefty portion of local lamb tjops. Ask about the weekly specials, which can be a little more exciting.
A rather small list of boutique wineries from local cellars.
On the ball and welcoming.
The terrace overlooks the charming Roux Memorial Gardens, while cosy tables indoors are more glam and surrounded by the objects d’art on sale next door.
It’s right next door to the tourism office, so a good spot to plan your Overberg exploring. (RH, October 2011)

A gorgeous, over-the-top setting that serves comfort food like pancakes or daily specials for lunch. Recommended for breakfast on a week day. (July 2013)
