  • I am a regular at Franks and literally live off their soups in winter and salads and chicken in summer. Their food is simply amazing!! Healthy, tasty and not too pricey. The staff are always welcoming and go out of their was to accommodate you. Jean Claude especially is a great example of why come back everyday! Thanks for the general day to day service, you know I will be back tomorrow for the Fragrant Thai Chicken Noodle Soup :)

  • I have been to this cafe twice, both times for breakfast. Although the food is good, it is the most unfriendly and unwelcoming establishment I have been to in Cape Town. On my first visit I managed, with some difficulty, to be served by surly staff. The second visit did not in fact entail eating. I went in, stood in front of the lady at the till, apparently the manager, who entirely ignored me while doing something on the counter. (I was the only person at the counter.) After about a minute she looked up and barked 'yes?' in a rude and angry manner. I was taken aback, but started ordering breakfast, but she quickly interrupted me to say they're not serving breakfast and continued her task. I left. The attitude was positively angry and hostile, as if I was offending someone by merely entering the establishment. I will not visit this cafe again.

  • What a fabulous find this gem of an eatery is. Being situated in Bree Street, it primarily serves business people. However, tourists who do not visit will lose out on succulent, lemony, mixed spice roasted chicken and the most original, fresh salads. These include beetroot, feta and sunflower seeds or a mixture of brown and white rice, mango and coconut shavings. Coleslaw is served with a light, home mayonaise. Franks Cafe also bottles their own piquant peri-peri. There are also a wealth of original sandwiches which can be served on authentic, boiled beigels amongst other breads. The capacino is excellent and be served regular or large. Craft beers and wines are also available. Orders are placed at the counter. Before the guest can decide on whether to sit at tall bar stools with high wooden tables outside or matching tables for four or communal tables on top of parquet flooring inside the waitstaff deliver good sized portions. Cafe Frank certainly fulfils their motto of slow food served fast! Pricing is also extremely reasonable witn a quarter chicken, 3 salads and Capacino costing R95. 00. An absolute must visit.

  • I like Cafe Frank. It has an accidental twin in Cologne, Germany and started as an exquisite French type chicken shack. It's a woman-owned business with beautiful staff. You can hang out at two long oak tables and chat to strangers seated next to you over your mozzarella rocket or trout and caper sandwich on very thin bread. Or you come with your girl friend and chat over a great cup of coffee. Then there is a counter to take things home, or in a picnic box to the sunset at the beach. Cafe Frank thinks a lot about how to make her customers happy, and you can feel and taste it.

  • I ordered a croissant with jam, no cheese. I was served a squished croissant and told if I wasn't happy I could wait 20 minutes for a new one! so I accepted the croissant and later when the bill came I was charged R32! I queried it as on the menu a plain croissant is R12 so jam can't be R20! They changed the price to R 25 with a sullen look! Bad service, overpriced and will not be returning!

  • I ordered a croissant with jam no cheese... And was brought a squished one but accepted it. Later the bill charged me R32 which is a complete rip-off! I looked at the menu and saw that it was R12 for a plain croissant, so why is jam R20? They reduced my bill to R25 with a sullen look! Bad service! Over-priced and won't be returning!

  • Bought a granola and chocolate muffin at 16h00 Wednesday 7 November. Inedible, tasteless and gooey  - not too much joy from the guy I spoke to. Real pity.

  • A great little hole in the wall on Bree! Concept - grilled chicken, and a very yummy one. Menu now actually includes a little more like sandwiches, salads etc. But grilled chicken is the foundation. Perfect lunch spot, but I can recommend to buy a chicken to take home for dinner. And you must have their own peri peri sauce - best in town. Only thing is that the chicken portions are a little small, and coffee is better across the street.

  • This is a real sidewalk eatery in the truest sense of the word. In a rapidly developing area of the city, where eateries and wine bars are opening up at speed, Debbie, the hands-on the owner/chef has taken full advantage of this hole in the wall and created a concept that seems to work extremely well for this location.

Debbie, the ever present gracious host and her friendly foreign staff keep matters ticking along very smoothly. The speed of service slowed significantly during the business lunchtime rush hour which is something that better planning could possibly accommodate for in the future.

Here business suits and corporate dresses munch away at organic salads and grain fed chicken alongside with the more casuals who regularly jump out of double-parked cars to pick up takeaway sandwiches or roast chickens.
Speaking of which, golden brown roasted chickens that stir up wonderful childhood memories of beautifully flavoured chicken and gherkins on Muizenberg beach, seem to flow endlessly from this small kitchen.

Our Piadina sandwiches were substantial and packed with flavour and fresh greens. The Piadina, a thin flatbread typically prepared in the Romagna region of Italy, was crisp, crunchy and wafer-thin as it should be. Not being as stodgy as traditional yeast-raised bread, it was perfect as a light, lunchtime handheld meal. The coffee is also good and the bill for 2 sandwiches, 2 lemonades and 4 coffees came to R160.

Great concept and a clever use of space and street number but I do however think the concept could run into some trouble on the blustery winter’s days for which Cape Town is so famous.

  • Situated opposite Jardine, Rotisserie 360 is definitely a new innovation on the Cape Town quick lunch circuit. Literally a hole in the wall, Rotisserie 360’s cool gray wall colours, immaculate white serving counter and fresh green wallpaper detail strikingly contrast against the large rotisserie dominating the space that lies beyond the counter. Inside is a calm hive of activity with Debora and the small team preparing the day’s servings.Organic rotisserie chicken dominates the small menu either as a whole bird (perfect to pick-up on the way home for that beach picnic), as pieces which come served with a selection of the day’s salads / greens, or in variety of sandwiches. Additionally for the serious cooks, there is fresh chicken stock available in 500ml containers; seriously good stuff which beats anything available at the shops.A wrap option on the menu would be a welcome addition to those who have lunch time sandwich fatigue and I have yet to try the coffee; but will give it a go and report back.Simple, honest food served quickly mixed with a fresh, sleek design and friendly service. Definitely my kind of pavement special.
