Critic's review

Food
Café Caprice is really a bar where you can eat. Think delicious and good-value food that appeals to a stomach lined with booze. Nachos are heavy with cheese and the burgers are juicy. The menu focuses on salads, boards to share and cafe-style dishes.

Drinks
With bottles of Absolut Vodka, Jameson Whiskey, Bacardi Superior and Peroni on tap on the menu, and some of the best cocktails in town (try the 2OceansVibe), beer and wine feel beside the point, but are available for the die-hards.

Service
Admirable, considering how busy it gets.

Ambience
A buzzing joint that balances chic attitude with a casual ‘just stepped off the beach’ reality, it caters to the young and single.

And...
Do not expect a quiet evening meal. This is a scene. (LM, September 2010)

  • All customers are important! And today I felt discriminated against because I was alone. I got to this place to have wine and view the sunset. The waiter moved me to another spot because he had a bigger crowd. I was more than happy to! Because after all I was alone. Then the bigger crowd moved to another spot, when I asked to be moved back to the spot where I can watch the sunset the waiter gave me attitude for days!!!! Extremely unhelpful and unwilling to hear me out. He left before I could finish speaking and forced another crowd to move to my previous spot. Unnecessary! Unnecessary! I am willing to find another smaller table because I am alone, for him to leave while I was still speaking is completely unacceptable. Worst service ever.

  • Make sure you visit Cape Towns most sought-after Beach Bar Venue. Enjoy something that truly is Cape Townian, a "Granadilla Lolly" cocktail whilst enjoying the African sunset stretching over Camps Bay Beach, Upbeat Beach Bar Music to take you from Day-to-Night ( Especially on Sundays) . Cafe Caprice has an unforgettable atmosphere, friendly staff, quality cocktials and super mixologists. Don't forget the Burgers and Nachos which are always winners!

  • Cafe Caprice has got to be the greatest place in Cape Town for all things fun. Good for a chilled meal - nachos or a burger - a Mojito or two or a serious razzle. Plus, with the specials at the moment, its hard to find reasons NOT to go there!

  • Chilled out, fun place in a great location. Can be pretentious, and it can be very over crowded, but generally a great spot for a casual lunch or early dinner.
