    - low quality entertainment
    - low quality food for a ridiculously high amount of money
    - forced to order from a set menu. Again low quality bland food.
    - restaurant operates in favour of themselves and whatever is easier for them rather than what the customer wants and is easier for the customer
    - We were told to pay in cash only because they wanted to avoid swipes on their machines which costs them money
    - Refused to serve us tap water. The waiter kept insisting on us buying bottled water
    - When complaining to the manager, we received an arrogant attitude
    - Greedy opportunists who lack customer service and hospitality. A restaurant that tries to make a quick buck out of you at every chance they get.
    - Total lack of class. Not worth the high amount of money you will spend here.
    - + - R 550.00 a person spent.

We went to Cantare last night for a birthday function and I was very disappointed. The food was sub-standard (the veggies served with a rice dish were pumpkin and potatoes – too much starch!) and bland. On top of this, the food and wine was over-priced and then we were charged a cover charge as well! I left feeling very unsatisfied with the experience and that I had wasted money. Today I see that they are advertising a special during March and April where you get a bottle of house wine for every two main meals ordered. This was not communicated to us last night and would have saved us some money seeing I was drinking the (over-priced) house wine. To be honest, I wish I had stayed at home.

I booked at Cantare restaurant for Saturday 4th February 2012. After calling them to add another person to my booking, the manager was only too arrogant. I had the worst experience in dealing with him. They were blatantly rude. They refused one of my guests a glass of water. And the food was less than ordinary. Straight after we finished eating we were given the bill to pay. No one had asked for it. We were then subjected to a live show that was nothing sepctacular or dazzling. The service was horrendous and I would never go there again. Let alone reccomend it to anyone.

We attended as a party of 18 people on 30 May 2010, and occupied the upper deck area. From here we appreciated a very warm ambience with good entertainment as the night progressed. The food however fell very short of expectation. My wife and I are vegetarians, so we ordered the vegetarian platter (R75 each, which by the way is a footnote in the menu, without much description). The remaining guests ordered meat and pasta dishes. The side order of vegetables for the tables tasted better than the actual vegetarian platter served (small mushrooms, few potatoes pieces, spinach, 1 spanakopita, slice of tomatoes – I did ask them to exclude the rice and they don’t do French fries). The pasta was sadly drenched with pesto, such that the other vegetables were overwhelmed with the pesto after-taste in my mouth. I got the impression that the least amount of attention was spent on the dish, or if any thought was given to its composition. The other guest, who ordered the arrabiata, complained that her meal was seriously lacking in salt – she never finished it. A trip down to the men’s room, was found without any paper towels to dry my hands. I was not impressed. There was some toilet paper at the basin, with the expectation that I use them to wipe my hands. I certainly would not return to this place, especially for the sub-par vegetarian food.
Paros at Cantare seems to cater only for large parties with set menus. My husband booked a table, and when we arrived there was no table allocated to us, so we were seated at a very small table. When we objected, we were offered a table in the smoking session (which was not behind glass - isnt this against the law?). The food was below average. My husband had rump, which was pale, tough and tasteless. I wont reccommend the restaurant if you are not in a large party (15 people or more) with a set menu (and then Im still not convinced that there food will be worth it).
