Owner's description

The Swartland offers great wines, breathtaking rolling wheat fields and abundance in olive trees where this quaint charming coffee house and deli owned by Karin Smit and brother-in-law Lawrence; is housed in the centre of Malmesbury. Approximately 50km from Cape Town on the N7, Cherry Lane is a popular stop for tourists making their way to Langebaan and Paternoster. The ideal place for steaming country soup with freshly baked bread or a lamb shank served on parmesan mash. Or you may want to enjoy a trip down memory lane with a “tea for two” served in grannies fine porcelain and silver teapot accompanied with sweet titbits from granny’s kitchen.“French flair” is often used by first time visitors to describe Cherry Lane. The duo of Karin and Lawrence is a great combination for this upmarket popular establishment. The charming Karin with her eye for detail is the perfect hostess whilst Lawrence is a trained chef from the well known ICA (Institute of Culinary Art) school. With Lawrence' experience at the boutique bakery, Ile de Pain in Knysna and his experience at the macro catering company in Johannesburg; it is no surprise that he wanted to experiment with fine dining. This resulted in the monthly “dinner club” where wines are paired to a four-course meal.

Occasional cooking demonstrations are held for people interested learning more about creative cooking. Karin and Lawrence go to great lengths to source fresh local produce. The gift shop also attributes to the charm and Karin sources unique gifts from all over.Visit and experience a quick caffeine fix or simply lean back and soak up the heat in front of the fireplace.

The cutest little place!!! Amazing coffee, such a nice atmosphere and scrumptious food! Such a gem.
Lunch there was delicious, Moroccan lamb dish with couscous (R59) and the country kitchen soup with bread (R27) was 5 star! The cherry on top was the chocolate brownie stuffed with almonds! (R15)
What a delightful coffee shop! Friendly staff and excellent food. Definitely worth a stop when traveling through Malmesbury.
