Owner's description

At Choo Choo Junction it’s more steam engine than steampunk and the food influences from everywhere meet here. They’re going to be serving lamb rump for example among the mains (Stokers) and because they  like the idea of wood-fired food, slow-cooked where possible, they plan to make a big thing of their glazed, overnight-cooked beef shortribs.

They’ll be making different flatbreads from four different parts of the world. One of the starters or Taste Tracks comes from Spain: the cider-glazed chorizo; another from the Balkans: cevapcici, Balkan flatbread stuffed with sausage, creamy kajmak cheese, onion and peppers.

Desserts seem to be falling into the smores fun category, like marshmallow, biscuits and chocolate all melted down together into a cone. There will be Sunday roasts and breakfasts, also from various parts of the world, plus the lunches and evening meals, from Wednesdays through to Sunday.

This quaint, unassuming find was such a treat! Seldom have I been to a restaurant and been so spoilt for choice. The food combinations are as delicious as they are interesting, the service was excellent and the vibe chilled. I will definitely be back!
The Flatbread and chorizo starters were very good. The short rib was very dry. I could have made a better Italian chicken dish at home. Whilst it's not the owners fault the amount of hobos outside the restaurant males it very uncomfortable to enjoy a meal.
Dismal, disappointin and expensive evening. The wine was hot, the waiter had no clue what he was doing, no serviettes and not enough cutlery or menus. The owner preferred chatting to her friends rather than really know what's going on in the restaurant. They didnt have enough short ribs for our order, 5 of the 6 meals came to the table without the burger having been started. The flat bread and chorizo was devine. Great concept but poorly and expensively executed.
My husband and I went for spring dinner at Choo Choo Junction. The restaurant was full and bustling with happiness and life! Gisela is a hands-on friendly host, it is obvious that she loves what she is doing. I like the fact that the menu is not huge, but it doesn't make the decision any easier :-). The food was full of flavors and really tasty. We shared the Asian flatbread for a starter, I had the beef short rib cooked in the pizza oven & my husband had the Moroccan meatball pasta. Everything was delicious and well presented. The marshmallow, cookie and chocolate sugar cone for dessert is addictive! Service was really good with friendly and helpful waiters. We will definitely be back and we wish Gisela and her team all the best!!
