In the heart of the V&A Waterfront's golden mile is Dalliance, Cape Town's freshest authentic urban eatery.

Flanked by the Atlantic Ocean on one side, a bustling kitchen at its heart and shoppers browsing on the other, this spot has it all. Frantic yet sophisticated, absorbing yet chilled out, let the cool chaos engulf you. Oyster shucking, raw juice making, craft beer pouring... there is so much to take in.

The décor is chic, simple and considered; industrial meets library, in duck egg blue, copper and wood. Sit back, relax and allow the upbeat jazz to wash over you while the laid-back staff wow you with their gutsy sharing plates, lovely local wine by the glass and stellar cocktails.

  • For a shopping mall eatery it far surpassed my expectations. The food was good, staff friendly and efficient. With the design and decor it was easy to forget you were in a mall. Hard to fault as an Urban eatery.

  • If your looking for an unpretentious restaurant with great food and service then head to Dalliance. And don't be intimidated thinking that because they situated near expensive stores like Louis Vitton that their menu is pricey. On the contrary, not only is it a diverse offering but reasonable too. For starters my husband and I shared Sticky Spicy barbeque wings and calamari tubes. Both were yummy. For mains I opted for a scrumptious lamb curry complimented with raita, naan and sambals, while my hubby enjoyed beef short rib, bone marrow and roasted vegetables. We shared a pineapple ice cream cheescake and beignets filled with chocolate, creme chantilly and raspberries for dessert and it was heavenly. Our friendly waiter was knowledgeable on all the meals and if unsure on the preparation, would ask the chef on our behalf. A perfect date night and I can't wait to return to try something new

Dalliance is offering a winter night to remember with a two-course set menu for R180 or three courses for R225. Choose from Belgian mussels, butternut gnocchi or the soup of the day starters. For mains, go for slow braised rib-eye, grilled hake with Hollandaise or mushroom orzo. Finish with banana and caramel crêpes, chocolate mud pie or apple-and-berry crumble.
