  • Had breakfast at Eat@Simonsvlei. They offer 3 seating areas: inside, outside veranda and an enclosed play area outside. We sat outside so the kids could play. The area was clean and well kept. The only criticism here is that the jungle gym climbing platforms need netting or something to ensure little ones don't fall off. We had the full English breakfast. Eggs were perfectly done according to our requests. The cuppacino needs improvement. The kids had hotdogs, which were great. The service was fine. The fixed cement stools are a little low for my tiny team so I'd recommend taking a picnic blanket for dining on the grass next time. We will definitely return. Great atmosphere in a safe, enclosed space (albeit close to the road with some traffic noise). The kids had a great time, which meant that we could relax and enjoy the outing too.

  • I had a parma ham pizza which was lovely, my youngest son had a burger which was OK and my other son had the fish parcel which looked lovely until he started to eat it and he said it smelled like ' dog ....' . I smelled and it was discusting!!!!! to say the least - we send it back and the chef came out to apologize and said it was the amonia we can smell!!!!!!!!!!! if he wants a milkshake on the house ! Totally unexceptable !

  • We went to lunch for our anniversary. The starters was delicious, but I will not recommend the mains. I had lamb shank and the sauce was very bitter, the veggies was a very small portion. My husband had the t-bone steak which was also very dry and the sauce had too much wine in it. The kiddies menu has a very small selection for the kids.

  • I wanted to thank you for the most superb Christmas lunch at the end of 2012! It was the first time that a few of us had gone out to a restaurant on Christmas day (instead of the usual family gathering) and we were blown away! The service was fantastic, the wines and their prices OUTSTANDING, and the food was out of this world! The gazpacho soup was a real lip-smacker and the duck (which my brother ordered…the lucky sod!) was the winning dish of the day! I would drive many miles to taste that meal again!

I hope that you will be serving Christmas lunch for many years to come. I promise you we will be back and next time we'll bring the whole extended family with us!

  • I've been a keen follower of the Hahns for many years. Their new setting at Simonsvlei is great. Good home-style meals, friendly service from Nicky and the team. Sitting outside with the wines and meals is the way to spend a lazy afternoon, especially with the enclosed kiddie area - makes it an ideal family venue.

  • The pizza was bland, and then he asked for garlic, which was oily and made the pizza worse! I had to give him feta and avocado from my salad to at least make the pizza taste better! When he got to the second last slice, he found a hair on the pizza. He then told the waiter, who came back, asking “where’s the hair”, we looked and suddenly the hair is missing. No apology, nothing.
We then just wanted to leave, so asked for the bill, when we received it; we saw that the garlic and extra sauce was charged for at R15!! For That horrible garlic and without informing us that there is a charge for it! My boyfriend then went to query it and it was brought back removed from the bill, he asked to speak to the manager, as she at this stage still did not at least come out to apologize. When she eventually came out, she had an attitude and asked “why didn’t you bring the pizza back when you first saw the hair”.
Would someone seriously go on eating a pizza after seeing a hair on! Obviously the minute he saw it, he stopped eating, it just happened to be the second last slice, who checks out a pizza thoroughly before eating it. We were both disgusted after seeing the hair, so much so that I didn’t even finish my food. She just pushed with the fact that the pizza was only brought back when there was one slice left. She had a bad attitude!! No apology
We like to try out new places all over the Western Cape and choose Simonsvlei out of 5 other restaurants in the Paarl area, however we will never go there again or recommended it to anyone.
