  • The wife and i visited Hazendal Wine Estate just after 11 am this morning, 2 March 2015. This is by far the BEST place to come to have delicious wine, amazing food and just a wonderful relaxing time. We were completely blown away by the majestic garden, great wines and friendly staff. After a warm welcome we were escorted to our seat were we ordered our breakfast. Although we only were looking for a breakfast we ended up wine tasting and winded up buying six bottles.( the lost straw we bought two bottles) It was a pity i could not afford your star wine ,Pinotage 2007 limited edition, that would have made my day. We thoroughly enjoyed our short say ,but promise to be back soon. Regards Clifford Poole

  • Very disappointing is all I can say! I purchased a voucher for a gourmet picnic and nothing about it was gourmet. The cheese platter was shocking with only 4 biscuits served on styrene plates and wrapped in cling wrap. It looked as if it was packaged for 5 year olds. The pies were disgustingand cold. The spinach quiche looked like someone first attempt at making pastry which failed horribly, and the filling was spinach mixed with white sauce and a blob of cheese on top! Rock hard as well. I've tasted better sandwich ham from the local grocer! The side green salad looked like it was made days prior already. The dessert was a square piece of cake supposedly brownies, but was so dry, and not even served with custard or ice cream. The kids hotdogs was drenched in the cheapest nastiest tomato sauce, that actually stained anything it came into contact with. Imagine what this does to the poor children's insides! I had read a bad review about their picinics previously and contacted the general manager who assured me that any issues was sorted out. If this is what sorted out looked like, I shudder to think what it was like previously! There was also a foul stench coming out of the kitchen the entire time we were there. It smelt as if something had died there. I will never ever go back there again, nor would I even recommend my enemies to go eat there. Really shocking food, and then to label it as gourmet! We should actually lay a complaint with the advertising standards body, as this was a blatant lie to the public.

  • We had a "picnic" on Sunday 23 Feb 14. It was terrible! I purchased an internet group buying voucher for a picnic for two, I guess they would argue that they fulfilled the stated requirements but the quality was far below standard and for the price I would have done a better job going to a convenience store . For R145 (usually R130 pp) we received cold pies, wimp tasteless crispy chicken, a side salad, two slices ham, nothing seemed homemade, what looked like a flat pan fried quiche and the smallest cheese platter I've ever seen. They only thing we actually enjoyed was the fresh fruit salad (we didn't even touch the chocolate brownies which looked like the chocolate cake squares you get on airplane) I have used group vouchers before for picnics and cheese platters and those wine estates got it absolutely right in quality and for marketing purposes! And since, we revisited them and recommended each of those estates (Knorhoek, Zorgvliet, Warwick). I would not recommend Hazendal to anyone! They even charged us extra for an ice bucket and glasses for the estate MCC we bought??? Never have I purchase wine from the estate to be enjoyed there and have to pay extra for that. Never Again Hazendal
