The type of food you can expect to find at Isabella's is fuss-free, delicious café style food with slight nods to Italian and French cuisine. Isabella's has long won us over with their sumptuously fresh and delicious cakes, but they also have an extensive food menu, with a tasty breakfast selection – the chardonnay chicken livers on toast are a winner, and the rosemary-scented potato röstis with smoked salmon and cream cheese are definitely worth trying.
The roast lamb Indian naan bread pizza is an exceptional lunch option – because lamb! Perfect with a glass (or a bottle) of Saronsberg Provenance Shiraz. The crumbed chicken and aubergine salad with fresh strawberries, creamy goats chevin and rocket is delicious and a pleasantly surprisingly generous portion for a salad. The dishes are all really reasonably priced and make for an affordable day out.
The cakes are out-of-this-world; the chocolate mousse cake is pure indulgence, and their creamy and pleasantly tart red velvet cheesecake continues to be an all-time favourite with regular patrons.
Isabella's has a star-studded wine list with some well-loved South African wines sold by the bottle and by the glass, a short list of local beers, local and imported spirits and some classic cocktail offerings. The rose martini is refreshingly floral, spiked with Lanique imported rose liqueur, gin, vodka and fresh lime. There is a wide range of bubblies to add effervescence to your special occasion, and some creatively-crafted hot beverages to go with their decadent cake selection. Isabella's also offers the healthy alternatives of freshly pressed juices, infused waters, fruit smoothies and alcohol-free, sugar-free frozen drinks.
The staff are friendly and attentive, although the service is a bit slow at times. The concept of the space was created especially with mothers and daughters in mind. Isabella's has a great staff trained especially to entertain their younger guests, offering fun activities like face-painting, sand art, a jumping castle and doll house; as well as keeping the parents relaxed, entertained and well fed.
Isabella's Petite is situated in a beautiful garden, an apt space for their gorgeous parties. The vintage-themed space is serene and pleasant, allowing for freedom of movement and a perfect backdrop for a special occasion for a little girl – though equally adequate as a sanctuary for a relaxing cup of tea and an intimate catch-up with a friend. The venue has an enchanting vintage theme and is filled with colourful lanterns, lavish flower arrangements and beautiful floral bone China crockery.
Isabella's specialises in curating beautiful and unforgettable celebrations for little girls, mostly in the form of a high tea, providing delicious snacks, decadent tarts and cakes sprawled out on beautifully and elaborately theme-specific decorated tables.
