La Lampara is an Italian restaurant in the beautiful Kwa-Zulu Natal Midlands. The restaurant itself is situated on a lovely farm owned by the Canderle family.

Authentic Italian in the heart of the meander. Great food, excellent service in a comfortable atmosphere. The produce was as fresh as you can get. In true Italian style the pizza bases are thin and toppings just enough. The mussels and languistine linguini were excellent. Top notch.

Absolutely love the restaurant, food and the friendly efficient staff. You guys deserve all the hype you get for doing it all perfectly right and creating our little piece of Italy in the Midlands.

My wife and I visited on a rather busy Friday evening and were at first impressed with the atmosphere and feeling of the place. It is a beautiful restaurant and obviously well-loved by the regulars. We, however, found the service terrible and the food average. The carpaccio was excellent, but our pasta dishes were neither here nor there, and when I am paying top dollar I expect top notch - it doesn't matter how busy you are.

My wife and I have eaten there many times and thoroughly enjoy kidneys, veal, lamb shank to name a few. Menu always has something different you do not find at other restaurants. The salmon done in the pizza oven is by far the best we have ever had anywhere. We have had this at least 10 times and perfect each time.
