Lord Charles' La Vigna has a new chef - Jean-Pierre Lenferna de la Motte - and it shows!
We ate in the Wine Cellar - fabulous environment for a private function - and sampled a three-course menu with wines selected from local wine farms. Each course was deliciously cooked and beautifully presented and, as promised, the wines added another sparkle. Perhaps the highlight was the desert where the chocolate cover literally melted before our eyes to present the underlying delectability.
Excellent service from knowledgeable staff completed an experience to be shared.
Looking forward to a Friday dinner when local wine farmers attend to talk about their wines and the paring with different (five) courses. Yum!

Had a great meal here just the other day. Good service from the start, really good wine list too, and the home made bread was a good start. We ate early evening just before sunset. This place would be great in the summer with the pool and patio area. The food was a good mix, pretty healthy, but substantial enough. The Thai fish cakes went down very well, as did the goats cheese. We had ostrich with onion puree and Thai beef for mains, both very good.
I recently ate at La Vigna, and things have improved since my last visit. Try the T-bone special. My brother ate at R60 for 350g! The beef Thai curry was great, as was the chicken lemongrass skewers for a starter. Well worth the visit. Decent wine list too.
Over the last 2 years, the food from chef Dietmar was great but since the new chef took over in late 2006 it has gone down
