A plethora of options is available here, from breakfast and tapas from Spain to ceviche from Peru, Italian pizza and pasta, sushi and wood-fired specialities – not to mention the salad bar. The options are quite overwhelming, making you wonder how they maintain fresh produce for such a large menu. The choice of the lemon-and-harissa calamari is well spiced and tender, but tarnished by unwashed lettuce leaves in the side salad. The fillet spaghetti tossed in balsamic and pesto is a rather satisfying and a generous portion.
Ideal for sharing is the tapas menu, with 25 different options, including charcuterie and cheese boards with accompaniments like plum tomatoes, a bread basket and roasted peppers. Individual tapas include olive tapenade, hummus, sundried pesto, beef and chicken pinchos (Spanish-style snack), and roasted beetroot.
There are some enticing options for dessert. Death by chocolate, Nutella brioche or homemade Belgian waffles with ice cream sound like they could definitely satisfy a sugar craving.
The wine list has an impressive selection of French Champagne, from Veuve Clicquot and G.H. Mumm to a rather pricey bottle of Krug Grande Cuvée. The local selection of bubbles is considerably smaller and better priced in comparison. The South African wines on offer are well chosen and offer a selection per varietal. Interesting juices and frozen drinks like the Love Potion or Rainbow Blitz are appealing non-alcoholic options.
A team of keen staff seats and serves you. Teething problems will be sorted out with time and training.
The warm wood and copper tones give the sense of great thought and detail that might work better in a cosier space.
