Owner's description

Holding court on the corner of Long Street and Buiten street is Lola’s. This eatery has been serving the hustle and bustle of this busy corner for years. However, with a change in ownership in 2011, the eatery has completely transformed, from the menu right down to the décor

The designers have injected vibrancy with the colour block bar and eccentric light fittings. Local contemporary art decorates the walls, and outside tables hug the exterior. The look now is decidedly young, fresh and clean: the perfect canvas for the bistro food.

I was working in the CBD last Sunday, and pop out for breakfast. I was lucky to get a table on the pavement at Lola's. While i was there they had a constant quick moving Que of customers. I have a great cuppachino with a spinach and bacon eggs Benedict. I only criticism i have, is that i would have preferred that the bread it was served on, would have been toasted. It would have offered a much needed crunch to the perfectly pouched egg and creamy sauce.
My husband and I went to this restaurant on a whim while looking for a place (any place!) that was open on Sunday morning for breakfast. We found this lovely little stop and were greeted with a smile. The service is well-meaning and even though it was a little slow - we didn't mind because there were some lovely tunes. The food was fresh and simple, which in my opinion is all you need for food to be genuinely delicious. I would say "breakfast done right". We will definitely come back here again!

It is a lovely , hip and happening spot to relax. The food is absolutely fresh and wonderfully tasteful.

Lovely place, good music, interesting dishes and people running and serving that has energy. The spot is clean and fresh which makes it the only Long Street establishment I will visit. I have had it with the dark and dodgy and unhygienic places in Long street. Lolas is warm, great food, reasonably priced and worth every minute I invest of my time, will definitely return!
I visited the restaurant for breakfast on a whim. Its small and cheerful and the service friendly and fairly quick. But the music was too loud and like the decor, too self-conscious. The food was nothing special and neither was the coffee. And its tag line on the website is wrong - it is not cheap. I walked away wondering what caused the restaurant to distinguish itself from the many other breakfast places I frequent in the City Bowl. I could not think of a single thing.
