I had fish and chips there this week and it was brilliant. No oily taste, lightly battered and crispy chips (as requested). Definitely will return
The worst fish and chips I have ever had. Dry rubbery fish, processed floury chips. Expensive and tiny portions. Not how Lucky Fish used to be - generous portions of fresh crispy firm fish and proper hand cut 'slap' chips. Never again.
The place is a chain restaurant with no soul, but the only fish and chips restaurant located at surfers corner. Their chips are dry like hell and the serving quite small, but the fish is ok, with a good variety and not so pricey. If you do not say that you only want one piece, they’ll automatically assume you want the bigger portion, which I personally find quite disturbing ( why not ask?).
Bought 2 Hake and chips and 1 Calamari and chips as a takeaway. The pieces of fish were so small but covered in masses of batter making them look bigger and the calamari was so over seasoned. The chips were awful - as though they had been sitting under the warming lights for the entire day - not even salt and vinegar helped. Won't rush back there even if i'm desperate
Although the staff are friendly, they are inefficient and the food they prepare is below standard. I have had the worst chips I've ever eaten at this restaurant: both over-cooked and under-cooked in the same mouthful. The hake can be described as stale, at best. The location is great, but I'd recommend packing a picnic for the beach or visiting one of the other eateries long this stretch instead.
