Critic's review

Café-style food with a vast menu selection and great breakfasts. Choose anything from salads to wraps, pastas and pizzas, but don’t expect gourmet. Portions are, however, generous. The mains menu has 11 sections including dishes like large toasted sandwiches, toasted pitas and a choice between five hamburger options. There numerous choices to start off the day range from plain toast to a full breakfast and even a breakfast pizza of bacon, mushrooms, tomato and fried eggs.

Well-priced, including Platter’s star ratings. The wide choice includes some rare and exclusive wines.

Don’t expect anything great. The waiters are only attentive until your order is taken and the kitchen is slow.

Despite the tables being well spaced you can hear conversations from other diners, as well as the noise from the kitchen and doors slamming. This detracts from the fireplace and wonderful wine shop.

Sit outside to enjoy your meal. (TS, October 2012)

  • Returned after a year to discover a dirty restaurant, not the best cake, and weak tea. What a disappointment!

  • I have to rate service and ambience as average as we actually ordered take-away pizza. Although the pizzas did take ages to arrive after the order had been placed. The seafood pizza rates as the best seafood pizza I have eaten, but the vegetarian with roast vegetables was at best different. Carrots and baby sweetcorn just do not work on a pizza!
