Owner's description

The Greek passion for life, beauty and of course food, ensures a joyous eating experience at Mythos. The menu is a superb exploration of authentic Greek cuisine. You can enjoy a variety of meze or traditional cooked meals such as kleftiko and moussaka, as well as meat, fish and seafood dishes. You can also enjoy some lovely light lunch options in pitas, and a delectable range of salads. Vegetarians are well catered for and, as a tantalising end to a fine meal, the desserts are breathtaking. Home-made baklava, halva, and Greek yoghurt served with nuts and honey, are but some of the delights on offer.

Went for lunch and just love how relaxed the place is. Great food and service. I opted for SOUVLAKIA in lamb and it came with pita, tzatziki and chips. Very filling the meat was well done. The waiter was available when needed and gave enough time between meals to order and were available. The food I selected exceeded my expectations and I am definitely going back. The setting inside and outside is awesome and their food is very awesome and taste magnificent.
A friend and I had dinner here last night, greeted by our waitress Bridgette and directed to our table inside with beautiful decor of stone, white linen and blue accents and a mirror wall that stretches across the breath of the restaurant. I tried the Moussaka for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it, as I am a lover of eggplant, it was accompanied by a Greek salad with ample fresh feta cheese. My friend had steak and prawns as she couldn't decide between meat or fish. I'm yet to witness some plate smashing but I would definitely return based on the service received.
What a beautiful restaurant but shockingly bad food. First I had to sent back the coffee as it was very cold. On return it was hot but so strong I could not drink it. We ordered 2 Rump steaks, medium prepared with oven baked potatoes for R120 per plate. For that amount one expect quality and a full plate of food. On arrival after quite some time, we received two plates with a dry piece of steak and 3 potato wedges each and the rest of the plate was empty. We requested steak with a nice piece of fat .... nothing. The meat was dry and tough and the 3 potato wedges old, cold and uneatable. The table next to us was shocked when they saw our food. The lady said ... Is that all that's on the plate ...! R400 later we left. Even the milkshake that was very nice I must say was in a very small glass and costed R28. What an anniversary! I am very dissapointed And through R400 away. How can you feel proud of your Restaurant, take client's money in return for this!
We visited Mythos Irene Mall on the evening of 25 April 2014. We had a reservation and were greeted by name - but that is where the magic stopped. Service was as bad as it could get. In fact it was shocking. I refused to tip a cent. The food was no better: My wife's stake was under done when she ordered well done. The cut was terrible and the flavour and seasoning promised on the menu was non existent. It was dry and tasteless. The French Fries with my lamb shank were dry and old. Presentation of the food and generally what is put on your plate is 2 star hotel stuff and is just thrown on the plate by a 'could not care' chef (who needs to be fired). This is the third time now that we have experienced the deterioration of service and food at Mythos Irene and is the first - but alarming signs - of complacency that will eventually lead to Mythos Irene closing its doors. It is following the path of arrogance that led to the closure of two well known restaurants at the same mall. Like many other diners, it is our last visit to Mythos Irene.
