The food at Pigalle sticks luxurious classics- think oysters, king prawns and ribeye steak. The restaurant is not trendy but opts for an old world charm with a live jazz band and waiters wearing ties and waist coats. Overall excellent for a pleasant evening out with dependable and accessible food.
For me dinning out is much more than the food... I go dinning for the experience and the ambiance. I look for good service, friendly, engaged and knowledgeable staff. I look for well-prepared dishes with fusion of flavours and inviting presentation. I look for love, that food orgasmic feeling. I loved the live band - it felt like someone gave them my personal playlist. The music added a calming soothing sensation. I found the décor fascinating, different yet enchanting... I had the Line Fish, Nacional, it melted in my mouth, magical.  I would however recommend that it gets served in pasta kind of dishing plate, because it was difficult to enjoy the sauce from a flat plate. My sister had the lamb shank, a simple 10/10.EXCELLENCE. The lamb shank was succulent; falling off the bone with perfect, aromatic and soulful flavours. My friend had the most well prepared rib eye steak, it was juicy, tender and nicely spiced. Pigalle serves beautiful, crunchy, well flavoured veggies and the portions are huge. It really is worth visiting.I got all I was looking for... a magical night, a journey of food and an amazing experience.
I have visited Pigalle many times over the last 10 years. Haven't been there in a couple years, went 2 weeks ago, couldn't eat the lam cutlets- the knife couldn't cut through them and the teeth couldn't chew them. Two weeks later, last night I ordered prime rib medium rare. Same situation. It was my birthday celebration and I invited 5 guests. Very disappointing. I'm done with Pigalle. A huge bill and an empty stomach.
From our very first date night, to the many that followed, and eventually even celebrating our wedding reception at this awesome establishment, I only have good words to share about Pigalle! I fell in love with the rich, warm, luxurious decor of this restaurant the first time I went, and was only further impressed by the beautifully plated, absolutely mouth watering dishes that followed. Perhaps best of all though, is the fantastic, eloquent, friendly and extremely attentive service. Five star dining experience, but without a hint of pretentiousness! It's reminiscent of the old Hollywood jazz lounge scene, which is such a rarity in today's restaurant market. I would recommend Pigalle over and over again. Truly a gem!
Decadence and elegance can best describe Pigalle in the heart of Green Point. I've been privileged to dine here on three occasions for two staff functions and my sister in laws 21st and was never disappointed. Service is key to Pigalle's success and from the moment you enter to the time your leave, the waiter is on your beck and call from placing napkins on your lap, refilling your glasses to taking your orders in a timeous manner. On all three occasions we had an A-la-carter menu offering seafood, chicken and meat lovers a variety of options to satisfy any pallette. Meals that stood out for me was mussels in a creamy sauce with fresh rolls, Fillet pan fried perfectly with a red wine jus topped with mushroom sauce accompanied by roast vegetables and fries, while a trio of desserts is always a good choice from chocolate mousse, creme brulee to cigars and ice cream. To cap off the evening, a live jazz band lead by legendary trumpeter Ian Smith will ensure you burn those extra calories after your delicious feast
