Brilliant food and excellent service in a stunning setting! Be sure to try the impala/venison medallions paired with the Asara Bell Tower - a winning combination! And for dessert, nothing beats the creme brulee!

Expected wonderful food considering the prices however I was bitterly dissapointed. Starter was fine but the main Fillet was very bland. Four of the 7 guests were using quite a lot of salt on it just to get some taste and overall not a good experience. For 7 people our bill was more than R2000 but the quality of the food did not reflect this. McCains frozen vegetables also made an appearance in one of the dishes...
Was here on 1st Jan with 5 friends for a treat. Beautiful surroundings and good service, but we were unanimously disappointed by the small portions. Especially at these hugely over the top prices, one expects not to go away hungry. I raised this with the chef and his reply was would you like to order something else? Hardly appropriate and frankly insulting. Why should you have to order something else when youve had main course, dessert and coffee, and are still hungry? Even for the quality food, I would not come here again, nor would I recommend it to hungry friends. The damage for 6 of us was R1700. How does R52 for a bottle of still water sound?
Dear TasteI was at Asara the previous weekend very inquisitive to try out the French cuisine. Upon my arrival a dashing German chef approached me. Their cuisine was of at most beauty and taste, I feel that your review was miss leading and rather old I wish to reconsider a visit to Asara for its cuisine and restaurant are not what it used to be.
Took my parents and our new baby son out for dinner in December, and it was worth it for the view although the dining room had a bit of a stuffy feel to it. The food was good, if somewhat pricey, and the service welcoming at first. However, I had a tough bit of plastic in my food, presumably from some packaging thatd snuck in. I pointed this out to the waiter who said hed tell the kitchen. But we heard nothing back. From then on the service was pretty minimal. We didnt raise the issue again, but if that is how they deal with complaints I certainly cant recommend Raphael’s!Not 100% baby friendly ( too many steps and no changing station), but the staff were reasonably accommodating.
