Beautiful setting, however one waiter for a busy terrace for lunch does not give the greatest service. But the disappointment came with the salads, I got a very small beetroot salad and my friend got the standard green and parmesan shaving one. In asking for bread, we were advised we have to order and pay for it, we asked for rosemary bread and once it came to the table, it was cold with white streaks indicating a bad defrosting job. Needless to say we returned the bread. No apologies from the waiter and no sign of management. We did enjoy the small salads and got 2 glasses of wine and 1 cappuccino. The bill with the tip was R210 which is far from good value for money, even with the setting.
Had dinner/drinks at Sotano last night. The flatbreads were sublime, the staff very friendly, efficient and helpful. What a great evening. We'll definitely be back.
Just tried Sotano (again after a disastrous visit 6 months ago). This time it was for Sunday brunch. The wonderful sunny weather was part of a very pleasant experience, but also food, service and atmosphere. The decor is very important to me, and Sotano has managed to create a really cool, yet comfy spot. And the gorgeous views are a bonus. We all had eggs of different shapes and taste. All good. As well as the coffee. Bread could be more interesting and they are a bit not so gnereous with the greens. But all in all a perfect week end spot.
The service needs to relooked at...The waiters were all over the place and there wasn't a dedicated waiter for our table. We were served by anyone who walked across our table, and at times, no one came to pick up our plates when we were done with the food. The whole time, we needed to call service to get things done. It's a good place to chill but they just need to notch up their quality of service a bit more!
A very good mix of price and quality.
