  • We went to Die Spasie as a big group of friends on a Wednesday evening. The ambiance was chilled, friendly but also full of energy. The resident chef for the evening was Marc Vonk from Jack Rabbit and his partner, Vasti. The food was quite honestly the best food we have had in a long time. Course after course was delicious and well presented. I am now following them on their FB page. Playing Twister and Cards added to an excellent evening spent in Cape Town.

  • What a fab night at Spasie last night! Such a winning concept - interesting, delicious menu, paired with equally delicious wine. Great decor and atmosphere, but the downside is the lack of soft furnishings, which makes it very noisy and difficult to have a proper conversation.

  • A real gem of an experience, intimate fine dining with a social element and the opportunity to enjoy food that maybe we would not get the chance to normally. The wine element has introduced us to Vinyards that we were never acquainted and have subsequently bought plenty from as we enjoyed it so much. Have been twice so far on the chefs table and loved it both times, and once for the Pocket Watch Wednesdays - a fun speakeasy vibe with gourmet street food. Well worth a visit!

  • Went to Spasie when the chef was Harald Bresselschmidt. What an aamzing evening, the food was amazing, the ambience was stunning and got to meet incredible people. Harald took us through the menu, in course in detail and interacted with everyone and the waiting staff are attentive but not intrusive. This is an stunning concept and I for one am sold. Did attend the Pocket Watch Wednesday, which is more relaxed and a whole lot of fun, didn't want to leave, will definitely go back, highly recommended

  • I'm an avid attendee of Spasie's #PWW (Pocket Watch Wednesday) and it's a winner every time. Not only is the food always delicious (think tasty pork neck with tzaziki, caramelised onion and more in a freshly toasted pita; cosy seafood potjie or melt-in-your-mouth mozzarella fries to name a few) but every week presents a different menu with unique taste combos presented by a different chef/chefs. With friendly, efficient staff and a few fun games thrown in, Spasie's #PWW is a midweek treat I'd recommend over and over again. Thanks, Spasie, for coming up with such a great culinary experience!

  • We had an outstanding meal with Chef Peter Ayoub last Friday evening. The setting is cool but intimate and it sure feels a bit 'secretive' - they should have random passwords or something to raise the level of intrigue. The only area that needs more focus - from a professional sommelier - is the wine pairing. Although the wines were fine and generously offered they were not necessarily the right compliments to the food. But overall a very fine experience with excellent staff and ambiance. Do it.

Whether it's for a benefit dinner, birthday party or exploratory night out, [spasie]'s your place. It's great to see an underground restaurant culture in Cape Town. • A group of us had the privilege of eating at Spasie on Friday 27th March. What a truly special evening and setting. Nick Charalambous cooked up a menu with the skill and imagination of a chef well beyond his years! Each course was a taste sensation and we all especially enjoyed the smoked squid and his unique interpretation of the Greek Salad. Thank you Nick...we all left smiling and enjoyed every minute of our night out! The staff were attentive and for most part we felt like we were in our own dining room at home...they let us enjoy ourselves beyond the serving of the last course. The wines from Star Hill were perfectly matched, and we certainly did not go thirsty. We will definitely be back and could not recommend Spasie enough (although I fear this may lead to us having to wait a while to go back because it will be booked solid!)

  • Such a revolutionary concept and very well executed by the team at Spasie! We joined one of the chef nights with Steffen Olivier and we're simply blown away. Steffen made magic in the kitchen and the environment and ambience were just incredible. Sitting at a long table usually isn't my thing but it was the perfect seating for the evening as the chef literally comes out of the kitchen to welcome you, tell you about the menu and just make sure you're enjoying everything. The staff were incredibly attentive and the wines were spot on with the pairing and the menu. The person from the wine farm did get a bit rowdy and I think it put some of the people to my right off but my husband and I just laughed - clearly, she was enjoying the evening like we were! It was a terrific night out and an exceptional value when you think we had 5 courses, 5 glasses of wine and welcome drinks. Will definitely be back...thank you, Spasie.

  • We've been to spasie on several occasions now and have always been thrilled with the outstanding food, impeccable wine pairings and terrific service. Most recently, we had the pleasure of dining on the culinary delights of Craig Cormack from Overture and it was absolutely sensational. Craig took us on a culinary journey that surprised and delighted our taste buds and left us craving our next experience. Highly recommend to anyone who loves an evening of dining out in the Mother City.
