My colleague and I came here for a quick lunch. As we sat down we knew that we wanted to order sushi and told the waiter that we were in a hurry. We also needed to order take away for a colleague back at the office so we ordered everything at once. We had Salmon sashimi, salmon roses, prawn tempura california rolls, futo maki and I think that was it... We didn't wait long for our food and the sushi was absolutely divine. Fresh as anything and so beautifully put together. I was super chuffed as I was worried that having said we were in a rush the kitchen would have rushed our order, but they didn't and everything was spot on. As we were about to finish out sushi the waiter brought our take-away. We then quickly paid the bill and we were out of there. For such a quick experience, I was very impressed. The sushi is very pricey so i wouldn't recommend this for your day to day sushi take-out with the girls, but definitely worth it if you want a spoil.
I eat at this Fish Monger weekly with my family. If you happen to eat there early and when its quiet then you can expect fairly good service, but if its busy you can wait for ever for some attention and your food although the management stand in the front over looking over the restaurant, not really making any contribution to the service and quite frankly Im not sure why they are there. Last night we were sitting next to the open windows and the wind started to come . We were eating at the time. They wanted us to move from the table so that the table and chairs could be moved in order for them to close the doors. I requested that we don't mind, but if we could please finish our meal. To this, the manager became irritated and joked with the staff, I called him and so did the staff but like a child he blatantly ignored me. The minute we finished our meal they closed the doors. What turned out to be a pleasant evening was ruined. I tried to discuss this with the manager on leaving the restaurant and he could not even give me time of day. Great food but really bad service. If you love fish and eat at this restaurant, take ear phones and your iphone to entertain you while you wait and block what it NOT happening around you.
David, how do you know Fred is a born moaner like most. Go and see for yourself. I can not believe someone you do not know can influence your decisions .
I have not been there yet but have been recommended to go.
Have been the a few times. Always quite good - but certainly not as good as the Illovo and Rosebank branches!
Went again recently on the so called busiest night of the week - and it was virtually empty!
After being served our meal - I'm not surprised by the lack of patronage!
Extremely expensive, extremely ordinary food! Salmon at R250 an absolute and positive rip off!
    Never again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
