Food
There’s been a marked step up in the offering here, with hearty yet refined cuisine the trademark nowadays. Foie gras and oven-roasted quail grace the starter options in the evening, while mains like pork belly and dukkah-dusted sweet potato, or on-the-bone fillet alongside thick-cut crispy wedges ensure you won’t go hungry. Breakfast and lunchtimes offer lighter bistro fare, including excellent handmade burgers.

Wine
An impressive selection with half a dozen of each varietal, and at fair prices. The variety is small but there are interesting offerings by the glass, and French bubblies for splashing out.

Service
Excellent. A warm welcome, paired with excellent knowledge of the menu.

Ambience
A stylish dining room in one of Greyton’s oldest buildings. Ask for a table near the fireplace in winter.

And...
There’s a wonderfully cosy little bar for a pre- or post-dinner drink. (RH, October 2012)

  • What a surprise! Being a small country village we booked at the post house hotel and we decided to eat at their restaurant. It was honestly brilliant. The food was a mix between ultra modern and classic, hard to describe really. We had a selection of small plates with a cured duck salad and a trout dish being the highlights. We had a paella for mains to share and it was out of this world, the chef needs a high five. The wine selection lists small producers and interesting varieties. Just love this place.

  • Our local favorite! Greyton is a small village with a big heart and The Post House has always been its Grand Dame. For some time, their 'Young Gun' chef Grant Lynott has been at the Helm and it has breathed life into town. I eat here often, he's always got something new from Asian Inspired takes on french classics to modern small plates. If any negative, its only the service is lacking somewhat but having said that, its far better than most in the area

  • We ate here a few days ago. Such a stunner of a meal! Main course highlight was the steak. Fillet done to perfection with so many flavours to complement, really good. Well done

  • My Wife and I love to get away on a weekend from the city environment and often go and find place off the beaten track. We decided on Greyton for a weekend away and booked into the Post house. When we arrived we were met by a bubbly and friendly staff who booked us into a beautifully appointed room. We made a booking for the Post house restaurant, as this was recommended due to the restaurant being very popular. We went to dinner at around 7:30pm and found an inviting ambience of a warm fire with a lovely country decor giving a feeling of yesteryear. The restaurant was full and we were taken to our table. The waitress came across and greeted us in a very friendly manner and explained the menu to us and gave us a detail on the wines they have. We ordered the wine and mulled over the food choice, which by the way was difficult to choose as it all looked delicious. We ordered starters of West Coast mussel...all I can say is......amazingly delicious. Mains came and we're scrumptious and definitely filling. We had a lovely evening here finishing with a nightcap in the bar. My overall opinion of the establishment .. brilliant, well worth the trip. I would highly recommend coming here.

  • Spent a weekend in Greyton with my wife, I live and work in the CBD surrounded by lovely restaurants and cosy bars and because of that I 'think' I have some taste. Well to my surprise, I walked into the posthouse. Its décor is a mix between farmhouse and a really expensive house ( my wife was convinced out table was a wildly expensive antique! ) anyway. The Staff were all smiles and seated us in front of a roaring fire. They explained the menu to us and recommended a few wines and our night was off to a good start. But then the food arrived? It was amazing? Like Cape Town standard, impress the wife, wow standard. Simple but crafted. We later found out that they had hired a new guy in the kitchen but whatever the case its honestly a great restaurant. No white linen or suited stuffy waiters. Just good and homely. I would drive from Cape Town to go back ( and we have! ) Fantastic

  • Just had dinner at The Post House in Greyton. Could barely walk back to our B&B as we were so full. Food is excellent and big portions packed with local flavour and the chef was very passionate in describing the menu.
