Dishes stand out for their innovation. Sago may not be everyone’s favourite but it makes an intriguing contribution to the chicken dish. Another combination that wins favour for its colour and wonderful texture is shredded smoked eisbein, cranberries, peas and wholegrain mustard served with penne and a horseradish sauce.
The estate’s wines are on show, along with one or two from Boschendal, and Villiera bubbly.
A tight-knit team delivers an exceptional performance.
Expect a formal dining room, with heavy wood furniture and drapes. The thatched building offers views of splendid gardens.
Visit for tea in the rose garden. (C&MR, September 2010)
