  • Zevenwaght Manor house restaurant is top quality!

  • I have now celebrated a few special occasions at Zevenwacht, and each has been more fantastic than the rest. The setting is beautiful, with a wide patio overlooking the grassy lawns and dam. The menu is great, with fabulously well-priced estate wines. Highly recommend the chicken livers (cooked to your desired heat), as well as the duck, and the chicken and prawn curry. Yum!

  • We had a wonderful father's day lunch here, the food was really delicious and the service was outstanding. The views were breathtaking - all in all a very memorable afternoon. I would definately recommend it.

  • Disappointing. Beautiful surroundings and nicely-decorated, but the food was underwhelming (and overpriced) and the service lacklustre. Was there with a group and there was little choice on the menu. Ended up with sandwiches. I had gypsy ham with Zevenwacht 3 year cheese (which tasted rather like Tussers), pesto (not even half a tsp) and peppers. It was really boring and too pricey. Waitress never smiled and brought each item in one at a time, instead of putting them on a tray, so that service could be sped up. Considering that almost all of us ordered sandwiches, juice and coffee, a wait of 30 - 45 minutes is excessive.

  • Love this restaurant - the food is consistently good and the waiters are superb. My only complaint is that the menu hasnt changed for almost a year!

  • I visited the Zevenwacht restaurant on 28 December with a friend. We enjoyed the most delicious scones, served with preserves, cheese and cream. I am in catering myself, and therefore very critical. The scones were the best I have ever experienced, and would appreciate the recipe. The service was good and prompt, the waitress very friendly and helpful. The setting was delightful. Can recommend this restaurant for tea-time treats. I will return again, when travelling in the area.

  • Please avoid Zevenwacht at all cost. Mom and I popped in on a very beautiful summers Sunday in winter. Was about 3,30 pm. We sat at a table that was just off the restaurants stoep - to soak up some sun - but the restaurant refused to serve as there. I fetched menus, I went in to place our order and the restaurant refused to serve us. Did I mention that the restaurant refused to serve us. Cause we were sitting in the picknick area - apparently - just off the restaurants stoep [did I mention this]. I was livid. No wonder there were only about 3 people on the whole estate - although it was a glorious long weekend Sunday in winter. Please dont ever feel like going there - you will be disappointed. Also, making a spa booking a few months ago was so stressful that I cancelled the booking. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. MrlZ

  • I took 8 of my family members to The Manor House on 27th May 2008, it was my mothers 79th birthday. When I first called to book which was a week early I was told that a deposit of R70 per person was required. When I eventually booked the day before, no deposit was asked for! We were seated on a long table next to an open fire which my mother loved. We had a young male waiter who was very quick with the drinks and knowledgable about the food. After ordering we waited about 40 minutes and had to ask when the food would arrive. The first to get her meal was my mother who had ordered a lamb shank. The meat on the lamb shank was dry and tough, my mother commented that it was very tough and that she would not eat it. My daughter ordered spagetti bolognaise which came in a huge bowl with a huge amount of spagetti, the bolognaise sauce on top was so small that she ate it in 30 seconds! My brothers did not want to eat his steak as it was way to tough and he could not cut it properly. The rest of the orders arrived at various times, my food arrived about 10 minutes after my mother had recieved hers. I had ostrich medallions wrapped with bacon, these were suppossed to be medium rare, the were well done and dry as a bone. I complained and it took a while before the Manageress came to speak to us, she was very sharp and tried to explain that in her opinion there was nothing wrong, eventually she said ahe would get the Chef. Chef arrived and we gave our story to him, he tried to say something along the lines that he is restricted by the owners to what he can do in the kitchen, I told him that surely he must be responsible for what leaves his kitchen and showed him my mothers lamb shank and also told him that it is costing us R150 which is a premium price! He could not offer any defence. We said that we would not be staying to finish the meal and asked for the bill, we waited another 10 minutes, by this time all of the family had removed themselves from the table and were sitting in the small entrace room. I again asked the waiter for the bill, 1 minute lady the same Manageress came through and kurtly said that there is nothing to pay, I replied that I would like to pay for the drinks, she again said that there is nothing to pay and also added AND I WANT YOU OUT OF HERE It took all of my restraint to say nothing. As it was my mothers bitrhday I left it at that, but one thing is for certain, I will never go back. My daughter has a friend who works there as a waitress and she told my daughter that there have been several complaints about the food in the past 2 months. Be very wary of this place, the food is NOTHING like the ambience that the old cape dutch Manor House gives in abundance.
