Owner's description

Saigon in Cape Town has become one of the hot spots. With magnificent views of Table Mountain and their soft, muted lights, Saigon has acquired the perfect ambience. The Vietnamese decor is done elegantly without giving the restaurant a themed feeling.

The menu is mainly Vietnamese with Japanese influences. Starters to try includes the Grilled Chicken Skewer and do-it-yourself Lettuce Wraps accompanied with prawns, fresh herbs, noodles and sweet chilli sauce. Some of the more popular Main Courses are the Chicken Cashew Nuts, their Spicy Beef Basil with chilli sauce and the Saigon Ginger Fish covered in a batter. All the Main Courses can be served with rice or noodles. Saigon's exotic Deep-Fried Ice Cream is a must if you have space after your lavish First and Main Courses. The ice cream is deep-fried with a batter casting and then served with their honey syrup.

Holding its own between the many restaurants in Kloof Street, this is one of those restaurants were one should book in advance as it is always busy no matter what day of the week it is.

We loved everything about Saigon, will definitely be going back.
As always the food was phenomenal. Great service too!
All over nothing more than an average experience, for an above average price. The food was authentic, granted, but overpriced, with very little atmosphere and typical Cape Town service - slow. It wasn't a bad experience nor am I regretful, I just wouldn't return.
We visited for the first time last night and I was really delighted by the food. Very fresh, not that expensive. I shared the Vietnamese pork chop with my son and there was plenty to go round. I also had the vegetarian wrap which was beautifully presented with a lot of fresh spinach leaves which act as the wrap - perfect for banters! It was full of flavour and delicious!
The food and service was great. You will see me there again.
