great little theatre & bar. Food is ok! But the entertainment and the ambiance is top notch. Definitely a hidden gem, highly recommended!

Owner's description
This 275-year-old heritage building on Strand Street in the centre of Cape Town has been decorated to incorporate old-world relics in new ways. A revolving couch, functioning rotary dial phone system between tables, flattering lighting and soothing music all encourage patrons to chat and linger over local wines, martinis and whiskies, while a menu of updated New York-style bar classics can keep hunger pangs at bay. Alexander Bar is ideal for midday business meetings, after-work drinks and for gatherings after an evening show. Their buzzing intimate theatre upstairs at the cafe has a diverse programme of drama, theatre and music, with 1 or 2 performances each night.
