Great wrap up but you didn’t mention The Corner Cafe. Not new but consistantly innovative food that is focussed on local, seasonal and nostalgic food.

Don’t forget Bel Punto Restaurant in Umdloti Beach. Must be one of the best Italian Restaurants in South Africa, although Eat Out still don’t seem to know it exists…

A brilliant list but I HATE it because it makes me realise how much I miss home, sitting here in an almost tropical UK. Yes , for a brief spell our weather is great, but the food is not a patch on Durban’s. I just hope your list doesn’t go too public because you’ll be swamped with tourists and I won’t be able to get into any of my favourite foodie haunts when I come home next year.

Thanks for compiling such a great list. I often find myself going completely blank when posed with the question ‘where should we go?’ even though I have compiled a mental list of must visit spots.

Good work, but you have missed Barry’s Artisan Bakery in Salt Rock. Wednesday to Sunday the best croissant’s and gormet sour dough breads this side of heaven.
Also Max’s new Savior Coffee in station road, the latest addition to his leather craftery, serve up a proper cappuccino in an authentic artisan environment!
