Cape Town restaurant, Beluga, to reopen in a new location

Beluga opened its doors at The Foundry in Green Point in 1999, offering guests a Euro-Asian fusion menu in a cool but casual New York loft-style atmosphere. It was once voted as one of the top 60 restaurants in the world by Conde Nast Traveller and was known for its delectable sushi and post-meal jelly beans. Sadly, like so many restaurants in South Africa, it closed its doors in 2020 due to COVID-19.

The good news is that Beluga will reopen in mid-September in what promises to be a sophisticated new hotspot at the V & A Waterfront cruise terminal.

Guests can look forward to enjoying the vibrant yet industrial views of the Cape Town harbour in addition to a refined whisky bar, wine-tasting section, sushi conveyer belt and private dining area. The new location promises all the old favourites but with exciting new additions.

“We cannot wait to reopen our doors in this stunning new location and welcome everyone back,” says Ingè Rebello, group hospitality manager of Beluga. “COVID-19 affected so many businesses and we are proud to see Beluga make its comeback just in time for spring in the Mother City. This is an exciting time for Beluga, and we promise to deliver the food and experience our patrons have grown to love.”
