On sale now: Tickets for SA’s most prestigious restaurant awards

Tickets are on sale now for the South African foodie’s celebration of the year, the 2019 Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Restaurant Awards. It will be held at GrandWest in Cape Town on 17 November, when the country’s best chefs and restaurants will be announced. Our best-ever line-up of top chefs will cook a multiple-course lunch, so book early as tickets sell out fast.

The theme this year is A Grand Garden Party, which will reflect in the event’s sustainable focus and the Grand Arena coming alive with flora for the night. Guests will be welcomed with canapés and Graham Beck MCC, after which they will be seated in the Grand Arena for a multiple-course lunch to be enjoyed throughout the ceremony.

While the cooking chefs are yet to be announced (stay tuned to our Facebook and Instagram to be the first to find out), the line-up is star-studded, featuring some of the biggest names in the industry. Inspired by the theme, the menu will comprise fresh flavours and eco-conscious ingredients. Think smoked aromatic fish broth, lemon buchu, grilled fillet of beef and a white-chocolate cremeux. Celebrations will conclude with a party, offering guests the opportunity to mingle.

“The South African culinary scene grows from strength to strength every year,” says chief Judge Margot Janse. “This awards ceremony is the ideal platform to acknowledge and celebrate our extraordinary chefs and all they have accomplished in the industry.”

For the sixth consecutive year, Mercedes-Benz South Africa is the sponsor for this prestigious awards ceremony. “As a brand, we’re always pursuing and celebrating the cohesion between excellence, beauty and art – much like these chefs and restaurants. It’s an honour to support and award them for their exceptional efforts year after year,” says Selvin Govender, Marketing Director of Mercedes-Benz South Africa Cars. Not only does the top restaurant get to enjoy the Restaurant of the Year title, but the chef will also get to enjoy the comfort of a luxury Mercedes-Benz for the duration of their reign.
