South African restaurant named 7th in the world in TripAdvisor Traveler’s Choice Awards

Crowd-sourced review site TripAdvisor has named La Colombe in Constantia, Cape Town, the seventh best restaurant in the world in its annual Traveler’s Choice Awards in the fine dining category.
The Awards are determined using an algorithm which takes into account the quantity and quality of reviews for restaurants around the world, over a 12-month period.

La Colombe beat worldwide heavyweights El Cellar de Can Roca in Spain (number 10 on TripAdvisor’s list), Maido in Peru (number 9 on TripAdvisor’s list) and Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck (number 12). The Spanish restaurant is currently number three on The World’s 50 best restaurants list, while Maido is at number eight. La Colombe is featured only on The World’s 50 best’s runner-up list, at number 73.
The Black Swan, a Michelin-starred restaurant in Oldstead, UK, was named number one.
La Colombe was the only restaurant in South Africa – and indeed the continent – to make TripAdvisor’s Top 25.
