We’re sorry that you had an unsatisfying experience, Trudie. Winter Specials are a tricky business that often ends up hurting the restaurants. Pete Goffe-Wood wrote a really interesting article about this a few years ago that provides more context.

We went to Manna on a Friday night, and the waiter announced that the specials only apply on week days. Then we went to La Tete on a Saturday night with a large group and specifically announced we wanted to make use of the Winter Special at the time of booking and received no objection, but when we got there the waiter told us the Winter Special applies on all days except Saturdays.
