I live just down the road from the restaurant and walk past it every day on my way to work. One morning I decided to pop in and make a reservation for dinner later that week. The night started out so well and I had high hopes that I had perhaps found “my local spot”. Unfortunately the night deteriorated quite rapidly, and I will not be returning. Service is below average. With every course, there was at least one person at my table of 4 who wasn’t able to order their first choice dish because it wasn’t available, and the waiter seemed to get more and more annoyed with us, as if we were ordering unavailable items on the menu on purpose. She didn’t have the initiative to check with the kitchen, after the first time this happened, what else was not available, so we wouldn’t have to go through the whole irritating exchange at every course. Neither the owner (with whom I had made my reservation earlier that week), nor the manager, nor the chef seemed to care that we were visibly frustrated by these events. During various points in the night, at least one of these individuals went around to all the other tables (in what is a very small restaurant) but somehow never managed to make their way to ours. We were actively ignored and it was glaringly obvious. Even the tasty, flavourful and ethically prepared food wasn’t enough to salvage the evening. What a pity.
