The menu ranges from to sushi poké bowls, dim sum, little plates, and burgers – the Full House burger being particularly juicy and tasty. Vietnamese calamari salad with chilli, coriander, mango, watercress, sprouts and microgreens is among the innovative salads, while beef lovers can tuck into grilled, wok-charred fillet with chilli teriyaki.
The kitchen is open-plan, so if you’re seated at the indoor tables you can watch your food being prepared. Try the teriyaki salmon steak or a burger called ‘Mantears’, loaded with hot stuff like jalapeños.
For dessert, Kawasura spring rolls filled with strawberries, hazelnuts, white and dark chocolate and served with vanilla ice cream is a mouth-watering choice.
The drinks menu is extensive and apart from the standard offerings, they also offer a cucumber and elderflower margarita as one of their signature cocktails, as well as a flaming gin and juice.
Staff are well trained, attentive and super-efficient.
The restaurant is divided into three main sections – a very popular stoep overlooking the street, a large main area that houses the bar, and a smaller area divided by a smart floor-to-ceiling divider. The main grilling and sushi kitchens are open plan, which contributes to the busy feel. Décor is modern and inviting, with leaf patterns, copper fittings, and a row of tall tables for those coming for a quick bite.
