I am absolute disappointed. I took my wife to Mezbaan for our anniversary dinner. My expectations were really high because this eatery is part of an elite hotel, The Hilton Cape Town but it got shattered not too long after sitting down. We were the first guests to arrive at just after 19:30 which I already thought to be strange. An empty restaurant at an elite hotel and its end of the month?? Two couples entered by about 20:00 and a single gentleman who was probably residing at the hotel on business. I felt a bit better. Ok, so people do eat here.

Our starters were fine. The waiter was clueless as what the items on the menu entailed. The waiter got our order wrong, in fact he omitted one of our main coarse items. We ended up sharing our main coarse. He also forgot what our drinks order was.

Our main coarse that eventually did arrive was the Tandoor Prawns. On the menu its 10 King prawns for R175.00. What we however received was prawns smaller than queen prawn that were not even fresh. The prawns were mushy and were breaking apart when we tried removing the shells.

The only nice thing about our experience was the setting which was really nice. A truely bad overall experience. No wonder the place was empty!!
