Date of visit: 15 Aug 2019 A visit to Aurelia's is always a treat. The beautiful and luxurious ambience and attentive service are tops! We were keen to try out the winter menu items, comfort food with a stylish twist. Firstly, looking at the wine list it is quite impressive. It features some local favourites as well as luxury imported brands. They also have a good selection of wine-by-the-glass which is always great for flexible food pairings. We started off with starters from the small plates menu, keeping with a #ProudlySA theme! Bobotie Tortellini and Venison Boerewors Pinwheel! Super tasty and beautifully plated. Those fried pap croquettes! Looking at the menu, with all the mouthwatering options, I decided to go for a 'lighter' mains, seeing that I just had to have the Crepes Suzette for dessert. I opted for a meal that was light, a real burst of colour, the sweet potato gnocchi. My dinner partner couldn't resist the hearty Oxtail Papardelle. Gorgeous tummy-warming comfort food. The table-side presentation of the Crepes Suzette is such a classic favourite. A real show! My dinner partner had the Rooibos Lemon Meringue, that came deconstructed - what a feast of textures and flavours. What a lovely experience! Aurelia's calls their style of cuisine #Afroperial (adj. A classical fusion of imperial Roman tradition and elegance, melted with bold, modern African cuisine). And it is done perfectly! Thank you so much for hosting us.
I have visited this restaurant on two occasions. It's a bit pricey but worth it. The only negative is that I can't finish a starter, main and dessert at once and they don't have doggy bags. So does that food go to waste then?
This aone of the finest eateries I have graced that I would br glad to visit regularly. The food, the service as well as the atmosphere was majestic, regal, divine to say the least. From their buffet breakfasts to their choice of menus, wow! Most of all I enjoyed their Red Wine Karoo Lamb Shank for my evening meal with regular starters and for the lunch Ihad their Tempura Style Battered Hake. On both occassions I enjoyed ice cream for dessert - kept it simple. I like the interaction of the staff - including the seniors who ensured we enjoyed our meal in all the time I stayed with them. I will visit this restaurant abytime permitting & even recommend to anybody who wants to be treated regal. Keep it up guys. Staff is so friendly, interative and helpful & the place is immaculately clean!
As someone allergic to a bulk of causes and spices i took a gamble one night when i was visiting the Emperor's Palace to try out food at Aurelia's boy oh boy i was treated to best hospitality i had never experience before. The environment is so relaxed with older waiters whom i assume have been with the job way before i was even born meaning they held me with both hands like an egg. The starter was suculant then i ordered the good old steak which was medium rare done arguable the best i had ever tasted, since am more of a sweet tooth the desert did not disappoint even. I would definitely go back over and over again.
