Last year I tried to have lunch at Caversham but they were fully booked. That I only found out once I could finally find someone to assist me. The manager was very unhelpful and dismissive. I decided to give them a second chance this past weekend. The waitress was very efficient. The food was okay but totally overpriced for what it was. I ordered a steak and kidney pie which was added to the specials menu last minute. It felt like it was previously frozen. The filling was nice but the pastry was soggy and chewy. Come on guys, this should be an easy one. The lamb chops were also okay but a bit chewy and pricy. Won't be back. Just too average.

What a treat! Both my husband and I relished our meals, he had a beef and mushroom pie, and I had some exquisite Butternut and Litchi soup. Both were delicious. It was one of the only places open on a Tuesday lunch, and we were so glad to have found it. Absolutely picturesque, whether you sit inside or out.

Good food and service in a great setting.
We had Sunday lunch there on 2008/01/06. Beef carpaccio was excellent, not the usual, the meat was well marinated and aged. I had pears marinated in citrus with blue chees - also very good and light. Mais were Grilled Dorado (Mahi Mahi Fish dish) and lamb shank, also both very good. Desert was small and light as it should be. Creme brulee and Greek yoghurt. Only complaint is we ordered a espresso and got a machiatto ( espresso with foam) but is was good all the same. The view and ambience is good. Service was good but can improve. Had an overall good experience. Average mains price R90 - R100
