Food at the source. We gather carefully from the land and bring it, with as little interference as possible, to the table.

Lots of knowledge, experience and passion. No menu - we serve what we produce (lunch only).

The Fynboshoek cheese farm restaurant is nothing less than an exceptional and unforgettable experience, each aspect being effortlessly striking. The farm with its beauty and the charm of the house and magnificent surroundings are enough to sweep you off your feet; and then the meal arrives - and you know you're in love. A table of heaven arrives in the form of warm freshly baked bread with Farm made butter, a simple salad with the seduction of cranberry dressing, roasted pine nuts, stewed pears topped with parmesaan to follow. Next a bowl the caprese salad arrives to continue the seduction with red plump tomatoes topped with fresh mozzarella. A cheese board is served with a selection of matured cheddar, Gouda, cottage cheese, provolone, goat cheese and ricotta drizzled with the farms own honey. For desert I had what I believe to be the best ice-cream I've ever tasted along with freshly baked pecan nut pie. We can only thank Alje, the host, for sharing his talent and what is clearly a passion with us. This meal and experience was truly magnificent in its elegance and simple beauty.
    Our favourite meal on honeymoon!

After a hike through Tsitsikamma in the morning, we ventured to Fynboshoek Cheese for a late lunch. The chef/owner greeted us in the parking area and led us straight to our table in a cute corner with a view of the dam.

We have been looking for quality, creative places to dine in Knysna - and while East Head Cafe and ile de pain are great, Fynboshoek Cheese is not to miss!

The critics review is spot on, we had the most delicious and unforgettable meal of our honeymoon! Absolutely worth the drive to Storms River!

Alje's hosting and food never disappoints. This is artisanal food at its very best in beautiful surroundings. I bought some just-made mozzarella to take home and it was just as delicious the following day...

I've read about this local tucked away gem several times but have never had the opportunity to visit. When we extended our stay in Plett, I thought I'd try my luck for a table at short notice despite the warning that booking in advance is necessary. We were easily accommodated. It's easy to find with the directions provided when booking and it took about 45 minutes from Keurbooms. As we parked we were welcomed by Alje and his dogs and led through the farmhouse to the glass room - an intimate closed in dining room on the verandah. It has a homely atmosphere with the option of a cosy fire on colder days. The lunch is a cheese lover's delight. The starter is warm crostini with goats cheese, honey and thyme. The main course consists of a mozzarella & tomato salad, a green salad with grated hard goat's cheese and a delicious homemade dressing and the star of the show is a cheese board with an assortment of hard and soft cheeses, all accompanied by piping hot homemade bread served straight from the oven. Alje encourages patrons to bring their own wine and does not charge corkage - we enjoyed a prized bottle of red which complimented the meal perfectly. There is an option to have dessert and coffee afterwards, if one still has space after the hearty meal! Fynbos hoek is a lovely place to spend a leisurely afternoon enjoying some of Tsitsikamma's best local cheese.

Absolutely brilliant! One of the coziest and best experiences you'll have in SA! Do yourself a favour!
