Owner's description

The main restaurant is a thatched venue, ideal for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Large picture windows overlook the swimming pool, Lake Heritage and the Swartkop mountain range.

Offering breakfast, lunch and dinner, the restaurant is open seven days a week and guests can choose from either buffet or a la carte meals.

Situated less than thirty minutes from either Johannesburg or Pretoria, it offers the ideal getaway for a midweek meal or the iconic weekend buffet barbecue. The resident Zebra herds have been drinking from the swimming pool since Heia Safari Ranch opened its doors, and have become the “most photographed Zebra in Africa” as a result.

With a variety of menus on offer, it is a great venue for a rural wedding or private function for up to 100 guests. Weather permitting outdoor seating is available at either the pool, patio or on the terraces, all of which overlook Lake Heritage.

We met with family for a celebratory lunch after their hike yesterday. NEVER AGAIN. Horribly overcrowded and dirty. Waiters and managers’ attitude to complaints just as bad. For health reasons we were told to use the online menu, but they cook according to the printed menu, which is completely different! Manager’s response “Really? No one’s complained until now!” All this before returned my meal to the kitchen after I removed meat from my mouth with the longest strand of hair IN it. Still no apology and included on the bill (we didn’t pay it). SHOCKING SERVICE AND STAFF. NO social distancing; no regard for the safety of their patrons. Packing people into restaurant despite not being able to cope with the numbers. Don’t waste your time or money.
Pretty dreadful. Was there today for first time after being recommended to go. There were thousands of triathletes there, blaring music, loud microphone and sweaty loud athletes everywhere. So much for a quiet sunday breakfast but at least we hoped the food would be decent even though we couldn't even hear each other due to the din. The food was poor, and very average. My omelette had more bacon fat than bacon. Once I separated off the fat from the bacon there was a morsel left. I took pictures which were rather disgusting. My husbands milk jug from which he had already poured milk into his coffee was cracked and filthy dirty under the rim. Again I took pictures. Service was mediocre, food was basic and probably one of the least excellent I have ever had in joburg. We have always said it is hard to find bad restaurants in Joburg but this was one of them. Truly bad and now we both have heartburn and much husband has an upset stomach, probably from the filthy milk jug. We will not be going back
Worst experience ever. Three hours later no pizza yet. Snack hot wings not hot. Oily blood coming out. Horrible capucinno. Whole group already finished eating. Bringing wrong food. Forget to bring straws. Fetch your own menu after 30 minutes. Will not recommend at all.
