Owner's description

Knead is an artisan bakery and neighbourhood café. This bakery cafe offers baked bread, pastries and confectionery on-site, every day, using traditional techniques to ensure that customers get everything oven-fresh. The Knead bakery cafés offer a simple, but versatile menu that uses only wholesome, local ingredients served in a relaxed, rustic setting. Started in 2006 with the first bakery café in Wembley Square, Knead has since expanded to add more outlets across the Cape Town area.

Best Breakfast in Town. Great Menu selection Excellent Food Quality Excellent Service. Wonderfully attentive manager and staff. I always enjoy my meals at Knead Dean Street. I would recommend Knead Dean Street to all.
Abysmal service. Helped ourselves to menus (eventually), order eventually taken by a distracted manager, watched my companion eat, had to ask for my food more than once, but still never got it. Over-charged at the till and abused by management. Ghastly experience. Never tasted the food.
The standards in the small place have collapsed I'm afraid. Firstly service - I asked the waitron what kinds of muffins were in steck "Mhja sdhjgd ajhg dhasdj hgdsajh" she said. OK - English isn't her first language. "Excuse me?" I said. "JHASGD JHASGD AJ HGD ASDG HDJSAHDA" she shouted. Should not be serving. I pointed at a muffin. It was at least 5 days old, dry and stale and tasteless. I guess it must have been a "JHASGD JHASGD AJ HGD ASDG HDJSAHDA" muffin. Never again.
We have been very disappointed by Knead bakery. On the last three occasions they never seem to have in stock what we ordered. Simple things no coke, no mango juice, no orange juice. Yesterday was terrible I ordered a very basic ham, cheese and tomorrow. We were one of two tables in the restaurant and it took over half an hour to arrive. Staff were sweeping around us and more interested in closing up when we arrived at 3pm. Once my good arrived about 5min after my husbands my sandwich was soggy with one slice of tomatoes in the entire sandwich and pastrami. This was on semi toadted very thick rye bread. I never ordere rye. When I askefd the manager why I had pastrami she responded we out of ham. There was so communication about running out of ham, brown bread or tomotoes.
This restaurants is right next door to woolworths running out of basic supplies is just not acceptable!
The staff haredisinterested and have an I don't care approach. The paper menus are torn, ,crumpled and stained!
    Very disappointedcustomer!
