Owner's description

Luca's Italian Restaurant captures the essence of the Italian lifestyle –colourful and flavour-filled. They honour centuries-old traditions essential to authentic Italian cuisine - simplicity and passion.

A grand wood-burning oven delivers pizzas, pastas and other dishes in an authentic manner. Slow-food specialities, including rabbit casserole served with polenta and lamb pot-roasted in coffee and apricots (Mamma Alma's recipe!), will have you coming back for more.

The extensive menu goes hand-in-hand with a collection of carefully selected fine South African and Italian wines to complement your choice of meal.

Winter months are made cosy with gas heaters and in the summer you can enjoy warm afternoon lunches and lingering evening dinners outside under magnificent London Plane trees.

Luca is a very kind guy with nice Italian style He will make you at ease serving good food Pizza is the best But try also Fiorentina and his wine suggestion Price affordable
We are regular patrons of Lucas and have always been super impressed with what was served to us, however when we decided to try out what is supposedly the house specialty (lamb kofta) we were sorely disappointed. Small hacked up sections smothered in some dodgy gravy with a few undercooked potions of carrot and potato just doesnt cut it guys. This is not what weve come to expect from our favourite spot for dinner. Worse still, wed brag to friends how awesome this little Italian gem was. Did not live up to expectations. Seriously guys, if you cant cook it , dont put it on the menu. To Eat Out - you need to separate the drinks vs food rating. They need to be totally separate.
Lucas pizzas are probably some of the best in Jhb - really! Very good host and a nice place to go for a meal!
Lucas is the best restaurant to have as your local neighbourhood restaurant. They are always busy, but somehow always find a table for you. It is child friendly, without it being a disturbance (I do not have children) and the best of all is that the food is just incredible.
