so i have been to this restaurant 3 times now, i took a lady on a very special date here on my first time coming to Ora Bella, the night turned out to be spectacular, the pasta we ordered was amazing, the atmosphere was also amazing compared to other places i have visited, the waitress was friendly and made sure we were well looked after, as well as the owners being very helpfull and friendly when i spoke to them, the other two times i was here with family for some special family out time, and both times i had the same reception as the first, this is my first choice restaurant in boksburg at the moment, the prices of their food, and the service and atmosphere have been the best combination ive seen as of yet!
We took our Customer from France to supper at Orabella. What a disaster!!! We ordered starters and after the fourth request received it. Our main meal where ordered after the starters and wow Manu (French Customer) received his meal. The Engineer received his meal 10 minutes later and guest what I never received a meal. The Engineer and Manu finished their meals after numerous request regarding my meal and we then requested the bill and again a surprise. We had to go to the counter and request the bill. By that time I was fuming and we eventually spoke to the Owners Wife (think she is the owners wife) and she suggest that we don't pay for the meals received. WHAT A DISASTER. I WILL NOT EVEN RATE ORABELLA. Manuel Antoniazzi from Hydro Power Plant in France posted a message on Facebook and I don't think ORABELLA will ever see any of WD POWER (PTY) LTD Staff Members nor any of their Customers again!!!!! Sorry had to rate otherwise can submit review. Rate is ZERO!!!!!!
My husband and I attended Orabella’s Valentine’s dinner on Friday evening (14 Feb 2014). R280.00 per person for a buffet dinner seemed a bit steep – but looking at the menu advertised on their website, it seemed worth while.
We arrived at 18h30 (as stipulated by their advertisement) but was disappointed at the fact that the food was only ready at about 19h20! They had a cash bar where you had to queue for your own drinks (no waiters assisted) – nothing romantic about queuing for 20 minutes for something to drink after you’ve already paid R560.00 for dinner!
Now let’s look at the dinner: They served salads for starters (I can make better starters at home!) The mains were not bad but I did not see the Chicken Gordon Bleu? The triffel, chocolate mouse and ice-cream advertised on their website menu, also shone in their absence!
Now let me just say – we love buffet restaurants and have visited a few in Boksburg. Queen of the Nile at Emperors Palace, ask R155.00 per person with a menu of up to 120 dishes! Boma at Boksburg, ask R165.00 per person and serves an array of some 140 dishes which include Chinese, Portuguese, Italian and perfectly grilled steaks. And – at both these buffet restaurants, you have waiters who get your drinks! Unbelievable.
Add to the fact that there was no barrier between smoking and non-smoking guests. So we found ourselves (a non-smoking couple) sitting by the patio door where the smoking guests took their huffs and puffs. Unacceptable!
Then there was the “live band”, or should I rather say – the glorified karaoke? We had to listen to an old gentleman playing his guitar to the backtrack of classic songs, and his musical partner – a female singer who rasped on her chain-smoked voice through melodies that should – but failed to – sound familiar.
All-in-all, a horrible waste of money. Sorry Orabella – I will definitely not attend your Valentines’ dinners again.
