Food:

People come to enjoy lamb, chicken and beef curries, as well as steak, lamb shank and oxtail. High-quality meat is sourced from a local farm. Also popular is the medium to rare salmon on veg with baby potatoes and asparagus. The duck confit is also popular. But the best crème brûlée ever is found here: six tot glasses each with a different liqueur in jelly at the bottom topped with crème brûlée – divine!

Wine:

A fabulous selection of estate and boutique wines. The list of wines by the glass is impressive.

Service:

This needs finishing touches but is fast, efficient and friendly.

Ambience:

Saskia is named after Rembrandt’s wife and muse, and boasts modern versions of the master’s paintings amid sophisticated soft furnishings. The background music was not appropriate though.

And...:

Also try a terrace lunch or private party in one of the separate rooms or wine cellar, or hang out in the coffee bar. (MB, September 2010)
