Owner's description

Decorated with the fresh, clean colours of the Greek flag, this authentic and family friendly restaurant offers a comfortable deck area where guests can relax on couches (under duvets if its cold). Theres also a dress up corner for the children to play in. Nibble on hot and cold meze or try their traditional vine leaves stuffed with rice and herbs.

Along with its change of name to Greek Street @ Spiro's came a fresh renovation front and back of house, bringing in more of the true Greek styling of whites and blues. Still keeping a cozy corner or two for the winter months. Ambiance is warm and welcoming and staff very helpful. In back of house the addition of a custom build Woodfired Grill Company Grill, adding a bit of fiery ambiance and a wood fired flavour to much of the food. The true revaluation came in the new menu. Comprising of a largely Meze (Tapas) style of dining, Kofta's, Souvlaki (skewers), Tzatziki and a mouth watering beetroot hummus are just a few of the tasty treats to expect. Greek Street @ Spiros is no fast food joint expect to order a bottle of wine relax and enjoy yourself with good company and before you know it a few hours have rolled on.
Spiros - The Greek is Local... and boy is the Greek definitely local. Authentic Greek cuisine deliciously prepared with only the finest ingredients. The friendly, efficient staff make the dining experience that much more enjoyable and the hands on owner/ manager Spiro makes you feel as though you have been welcomed with open arms into a typical Greek family home to sit an have a meal with the family. Fridays nights in the Spiros courtyard are a truly magical experience with the addition of the house DJ spinning some rocking tunes and transforming your other wise casual Friday evening dinner into a great party to kick off the weekend. A hugely family orientated eatery where kids are not only allowed but welcomed with open arms and catered for with a fully equipped indoor play area, out door climbing frame and delicious kids menu. We run a tourist information center in Hout Bay and Spiros is always the first establishment I recommend to our overseas visitors.
Spiro the owner is 1 in a million, not only does he welcome his customers with open arms but you are lightly to get yourself a kiss in the process. His staff are well trained and are brilliant at what they do. The food is authentic Greek and the atmosphere is laid back and very friendly. Our family has become part of their family.
It's a kids paradise and it shows by the amount of families that frequent it. If you are "afraid" of kids there are separate rooms where you can enjoy your Greek in a little more peace and quite. We are local Hout Bay residents and Spiro's is our local - not only for the food but also for special occasions, sport and a couple of yummy cocktails. The Greek is indeed local.

A lovely place with authentic, tasty Greek food and a fabulous playroom for kids. Service was attentive and staff were very knowledgable. The kids playroom is a real winner - one of the best I have seen! Not so sure about the Greek coffee.

Going Greek is not good for those of us who cannot for whatever reason eat garlic. Happily Spiro's in Hout Bay (also open for lunch when it's a calm haven) have staff who get it, and it's never a problem to have it excluded. A great casual but consistently good venue.
