Owner's description

The Stardust experience is unique to Cape Town by Capetonians for Capetonians. Tourists are welcome to experience our extremely talented team.

The performing hosts are students and graduates of the art schools and universities that perform a combination of local and international music that are always crowd pleasers. This, while serving your meal prepared by our authentic Mediterranean kitchen.

The talent of the individual performances and well-rehearsed group songs, create an exciting and fun filled evening. Patrons are left in awe from the level of talent displayed.

Stardust transcends beyond a usual dinner and show. It provides a sing along dance along experience that has made us famous for doing so for 20 years. Patrons over indulging and dancing on the tables is a reason so many come back over and over again.

Our menu caters for all, including vegans, vegetarians and people with food allergies. We expect you to be seated by 20:00 and will perform our heart out with great food to give the best value for money. We do pride our food, the performance of the kitchen will be as good as the performance of the singers and dancers.

I've somehow never been to this Cape Town institution, where the waiters sing for your supper, so was eager to try it out. Most of the performers were pretty good - although there were some less good moments... I liked that they gave us a break between sections, in order to chat to our table. The food was a bit hit-and-miss. The duck tagine was fairly tough - though apparently the lamb one was delicious. The fillet steak was actually the best thing I tasted though - superlatively tender, with a delicious sauce. Our white chocolate creme brulees were pretty good. Great flavour - although chocolate does tend to make the dish slightly grainy, rather than creamy. Halva ice cream was alright - but not as good as others I've had. (Marika's in Gardens does a fab, creamy one with chunks of halva in it.) All-in-all a fun night - I'd recommend going with a big group of friends, and drinking plenty of wine, in order to really get the proper experience. You need to be slightly loose in order to sing along and get up and dance at the end.

Never before have I been able to without reserve tick all the boxes! This evening was filled with the grace of the most experienced, helpful and dedicated waiters who on the focus of a spot light became our entertainment, transported us to worlds magical and awash with wonderment. Performances in presenting the menu, setting the tables, pouring wine and balancing dietary whims were washed aside by the extremely professional and energized stage performances of said waters and waitresses, we struggled to find the words between the escaping whistles and exuberant applause after each set, to encompass how totally bowled over we were by the whole experience! Young people dedicated to their craft AND waiting tables - extending their craft to those who came to watch... bringing the magic to the floor, to the tables, to those waiting... Never before has a job been accomplished with such finesse, such enthusiasm, such grace. To everyone involved - from planning to execution - we were truly amazed, entranced and totally in love with every performer that took the mic! The variety of talent and genre was enchanting in the extreme! You did all things for all people I am sure and the food!!! Oh My Word!!! The Food!!! I imagined it would be one or the other, either good service and mediocre talent, good talent and mediocre food... never had I imagined it would be all THREE!! Fantastic food, Incredible service AND TALENT that just left us speechless!! I cannot recommend this restaurant enough!! Experience the magic - you will not be disappointed :)
I attended a Birthday celebration here about 10 days ago. Although its an interesting and different concept, the food, service and portion sizes were a huge let-down. I ordered the Seafood Tagine, but only received a very tiny portion, more like a starter portion. When this was mentioned to our waiter, he just laughed! in fact I later discovered the WHOLE table had miniscule portions. The food wasn't anything to get excited about, and I was further disappointed by the creme brulee for dessert. The ice cream served with it was a really cheap and nasty ice cream, so bad it tainted the taste of the brulee.
The service was really slack. The excess glasses were never removed and the waiter took ages to clear all the dirty plates. The waiters may be performers, but if they are going to wait on tables, they should learn how to serve!
We were lucky enough to have 3 talented waitrons on our night, but having spoke to other people, they weren't so lucky. And, they also mentioned the tiny portions which proves ours wasn't just a bad night. Pity!
    Guys help out,
